Today we have with us a very special person as our guest of honour, for our great grand Annual day function. Dr C Sreekumar, he is a professor in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and at present principal of Govt College of Engineering, Kannur.
Sir has a Ph D in Systems and Control Engineering from IIT Bombay. Sir has published 21 papers in international conferences and has 3 patents to his credit namely: Event-Triggered control of frequency in interconnected power system; PV fed high gain SEPIC -Boost converter for vector-controlled induction motor drive; and A simplified load voltage control scheme for power conversion applications using modular multilevel converters.

It is with immense pride and joy that I stand here today on this auspicious occasion of our Annual Day celebration. This event is a celebration of the talent, dedication, hard work and spirit of our school community.
Sree Narayana Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School, affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, it is managed by Sree Bhakthi Samvardhini Yogam, an organisation dedicated to the ideals of Sree Narayana Guru.
Our school is an examination centre and evaluation centre for the CBSE board examinations. We are also the pilot centre for NCrF {National Credit Framework} which the board plans to implement in all the schools from the next academic year.
I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to our School Managing Committee members, for their unwavering commitment, vision and leadership. Your guidance and timely decisions have helped our school grow and excel in every sphere-academics, cultural and social.
Thank you for always motivating the staff and students to strive for excellence and for creating an atmosphere where learning and values go hand in hand, for your unstinted support in the overall development and progress of the school.
Keeping in mind the requirements for more classrooms in future, the decision to construct a new building block was taken by the managing committee.
The foundation stone for the new building was laid on 8th May 2025; construction of new building block is in progress and by the start of the next academic session the ground floor will be ready with six rooms.
Installing new Smart Television panels for classes in the middle school for smart learning and collaborating with Jio Embibe for Digital infrastructure.
Allocating funds for tiling the terrace of the nursery block and providing mike system to conduct assembly and practise for various events. This has helped in building confidence among the KG children.
The construction of the pathway from the main block to the LP Block has helped in smooth movement of students and teachers during the rainy season and provides shade from the scorching sun. Securing the LP block by fencing the boundary wall has taken care of the safety of our little ones.
New CWSN[children with special needs] toilets and urinals in the main block as per the CBSE guidelines. Renovation of toilets in one of the floors of the LP block and plans to renovate the remaining during the summer break in also under consideration.
Keeping in mind the safety of our students, the classrooms, school campus and the school buses have been installed with cameras.
The students of classes 6 to 8 are making use of the ROBOTICS LAB which was inaugurated this year and I am thankful to the management for investing a huge amount for the purchase of the kits.
I am also thankful to them for sponsoring the education of a number of deserving students from financially weak families and providing them with equal opportunities to flourish.
I also wish to thank our well-wishers and patrons who have sponsored endowment scholarship for our deserving students over the years. I am grateful to our Alumini of 1998-99 for sponsoring the education of a student of the 12th std. Your kind gesture is always appreciated. We look forward to more such initiatives and handholding by our alumini.
To our education officer, Mrs Deepika Jaidas, I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for your exceptional leadership and unwavering support. The warmth of your presence is missing today.
To our faculty I express my heartfelt appreciation for the dedication, hard work, and unwavering commitment each of you brings to our institution. Your tireless efforts, both inside and outside the classroom, are instrumental in shaping the minds of our students and enriching their academic experience. To my friends and colleagues who will retire in March next year – “Working with you all has been a wonderful journey- filled with laughter, learning and memories I’ll always treasure. Thank you for the teamwork, encouragement and friendship- I’ll truly miss our everyday moments together.
As a principal of this institution this is my 2nd annual day address, I have with the support of all tried to sustain the school’s name and position and now I look forward to taking it to greater heights with the prayers of all and blessings of the almighty.
This year, we have witnessed remarkable growth and innovation. From academic competitions to cultural events, our students have excelled and showcased their diverse talents. These experiences not only enrich their learning but also build character and teamwork—qualities that will serve them well in the future.
It’s indeed a moment of pride and honour for me to place on record the significant activities and the achievements of the year 2025-26.
On 2st June 2025 the new academic session started with a total of 1795 students right from pre-KG to XII std. We have 84 teaching staff and 32 non-teaching staff members including bus operators.
In continuation with our initiative to nurture holistic development of children and follow the recommendations of NEP 2020, this year the integrated school ed-tech program LEAD’s [Leadership Education and Development] was introduced in Ist std.
This year as we had received a lot of applications from students of other schools for admission in XI, keeping in view the demand we started one more division in XI to accommodate good students from outside and at present the number of students in 11th is 160. We appreciate the trust and confidence that parents have in us and will always work to live up to your expectations and prepare the students for the challenges of life.
Here are the highlights of the nursery section this year:
1.This is the second year of “Leadership Education and Development”, LEAD’s integrated school ed-tech system program in the nursery which is aligned with NEP 2020. It follows the recommendations of Early Childhood and Early Care policy which envisages 3 major goals: Health and Development, Effective Communication and Involved Learners.
2. Like last year in the month of August 2025, “STUDENT LED CONFERENCE” [SLC] was conducted where every student of the nursery section came on stage and gave a small presentation
3. Children celebrated Onam, Dusshera, Independence Day, Gandhi Jayanthi in a befitting manner. The WhatsApp group of the nursery was very lively with the videos and images of celebrations and the enthusiasm of the parents.
4. Along with academics, games and sports are an integral part of the school curriculum. As a sound mind resides in a healthy body, students are motivated and guided to be physically fit and mentally alert .
Our little athletes took part in fun sports activities like walking the line, frog jump, ball hunt and running races. These activities fostered teamwork and physical fitness.
5.To promote and encourage the latent skills among our children a two-day cultural competition was conducted on 18th and 19th September in which all the students participated in a variety of items giving children an opportunity to expose their talent and sing and dance to lively tunes.
6. The students of the UKG visited the Town Police Station to get a first-hand view of the day-to-day function of a police station. The video of which is shared by Kannur City police on their Facebook page.
Dear parents, the admission for pre-KG and LKG will start from 1st November 2025 and will be completed by 15th November 2025.
The registration for new admissions to other classes for the next academic year will start from 1st March 2026. Let your near and dear ones know about the same.
Acheivements
5th June 2025 World Environment Day, was celebrated with the initiative of EK PED MAA KE NAAM. To inculcate care for mother earth, Gram Swaraj Foundation, Kannur supplied saplings of fruit trees and teak to be distributed to the students of the school. On this day, 2025 Swaraj Environment Award, instituted by Govt of Kerala, Dept of Culture, Sree Narayana International Study Pilgrimage Center, Chempazhathi, was awarded to S N Vidya Mandir.
I would like to bring to your notice the additional responsibility I have been entrusted by the CBSE in the beginning of the year: the post of Deputy City Coordinator, Kannur. This is a huge responsibility and with the support of the managing committee, parents and a dedicated team of my teaching and non-teaching staff. I am confident of doing my best and upholding the trust of CBSE.
It’s a pleasure to share with you the information that MrsThushara Narayan, HOD Computer Science department has been appointed as the master trainer for SAFAL {Structured Assessment for Analysing Learning} examination by CBSE. The exam is conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of teaching learning process by identifying the foundational skills and competencies students have achieved in the subjects like language, mathematics and Science. The students who have passed the 5th and 8th std will appear for this exam in online mode in November. Mrs Thushara Narayan has to mentor and guide 25 schools in Kerala and Lakshadweep for the same.
Mrs Krishnapriya K K our counsellor got an opportunity to represent our school and present a paper at the Regional Institute of Education, Mysuru in January this year.On the topic “The transformative power of career counselling in school to guide dreams and shape future”.
Academic excellence: I feel elated to share that all our students of Class X and XII, who appeared for Secondary and Senior Secondary School Examination by CBSE scored very high marks in all the subjects.
Our students performed excellently and many of them scored very high marks in the whole of Kannur Sahodaya region making us all proud with their academic excellence.
In the academic year 2024-25, out of the 136 children who appeared for the AISSE class X Examination, 88 students secured Distinction of these 27 students scored more than 90% marks. 45 secured first class in the board exam.
SCHOOL TOPPER CLASS X: Rishon Vimal scored 97.4%.
Three students scored a CENTUM Theertha Rajesh and Adwaith Aneesh scored 100 in Social Science, while Sreenanda Hajith scored a perfect 100 in Science.

Details of number of students who secured 90 and above in each subject:
40 in English, 35 in Malayalam, 14 in Hindi, 1 in Sanskrit, 67 in Social Science, 7 in Mathematics and 42 in Science.
Out of 119 children who appeared in the AISSCE class XII Examination 86 students secured Distinction of these 33 students scored more than 90% marks. The remaining 31 secured first class.
SCHOOL TOPPER CLASS XII: Nilofer Maria Rijo scored 98.8%. She secured 100 marks in both Physics and Chemistry. At present she is pursuing MBBS from Jubili Mission Medical college, Thrissur. All the best dear Nilofer.
Abhijith Kumar Pola is the top scorer of the Computer Science stream with 96.6% and Athul Dhanesh is the top scorer of the Commerce stream with 98%. All the best to you as well.

Strengthening synergies between parents-teachers
We believe in parent teacher camaraderie.
Our PTA association members have always been our pillar of support and I am thankful to you for your suggestions and help volunteered during the Annual Sports Day as well as today.
To strengthen this understanding, we conduct parents’ teachers meeting after exams and periodic tests as and when possible, to monitor and analyse the progress of the students and to take necessary measures to ensure that the students benefit in all possible ways. Personal one to one meeting was conducted by the class teachers with parents to help students overcome challenges. I request the parents to meet my teachers for one-to-one session to discuss the progress of the children on weekdays between 3: 30 to 4:00pm.
Dear parents the portions for classes X and XII will be completed in the first week of November. Before the board exams we will conduct two revision exams and a model exam. The schedule is already prepared and it will be shared in the PTA Meeting in the coming week.
Dear parents your involvement plays a crucial role in our students’ success. Together, we form a partnership that empowers our children to reach their fullest potential, thank you for your continuous support and trust.
On 8th July we organized an interactive session with the private vehicle drivers for a better understanding of the challenges and issues they face. We are grateful to their president Shri Sudheesh for participating and expressing his support for the wellbeing of the students. The vehicle drivers have always lived up to the trust of parents and the school and we are indebted to them for their services.
As a part of “ANAEMIA MUKTA BHARATH”-a national health program to prevent Anaemia in students’, weekly supplements are given to students on Fridays after lunch. This is done after getting a written consent from the parents’
Workshops for students, parents and teachers.
Staying updated is the key to success in any field especially in the field of education. Our teachers including the principal constantly strive to stay updated by attending workshops and various training programmes. 50 hours of training is mandatory for all the teachers and principal. This academic session we have hosted two training sessions for our teachers, on Adolescent education and Cyber Safety and security, organised by Centre of excellence, Trivandrum.
I got the opportunity to attend a”02 days Conference and training for CBSE SCHOOL PRINCIPAL” scheduled for 17th and 18th October 2025 at Kochi. More than 900 principals from all over Kerala benefitted from the interaction with CBSE officials and the learned resource persons.
As an initiative of Mathrubhumi Madhura Malayalam program, Dr Aravind Bhatt, MD Nehrajyoti Eye Hospital is sponsoring 10 Mathrubhumi newspapers for the school for a year. We are thankful to Dr Bhatt for the same.
Counselling class for students of XII by Chem- 4- Tech on the importance of SAT [Scholastic Assessment Test] was conducted by Dr Vijesh Nirmalagiri and Mr Biju Balakrishnan in March this year.
Catalyst Education, Lakshya institute have conducted career counselling class for student of commerce batch of XI and XII.
In the coming months we plan to arrange for a free eye and dental checkup for students and a few more motivational classes for students, teachers and parents.
Students’ enrichment programmes.
In the beginning of the year 2025 four students of XI participated in “Agri tech for humanity” IOT[Internet of things] workshop organised at Govt college of engineering Kannur.
Food safety and standards authority of India [FSSAI] conducted an awareness class on food safety through mobile food testing lab for the students of IX.
Students of XII standard actively participated in the SPACE X ISRO Exhibition conducted at the Shatabdhi Hall, Talap in the month of April this year. It was inaugurated by Sri Yathish Chandra G H, IPS, DIG Kannur. The students were appreciated by the visitors for their presentation and knowledge.
S N Vidya Mandir had entered into collaboration with IIT Madras last year for online training of students. This year 45 students of XI std completed the certification course for the eight-weeks in Introduction to Data Science and AI and the Fundamentals to Aerospace.
21st June was celebrated as World music and World Yoga Day in school with the theme – “Yoga for One Earth, One Health”.
To Create an awareness among the children about the menace of drug addiction Shri Sanil Kumar C P, Asst Excise Inspector helped in the creation of VIMUKTI CLUB to tackle among the teens the issues related to drug abuse.

Legal services department under Tellichery Court organised a drug awareness class, Shri Anil K, Senior Civil Police Officer conducted the session for students of 8th & 9th .

To inculcate the future citizens of mother India the value and importance of democracy and democratic election, the school parliament election was conducted on 2nd July just alike the real election process of the nation and a cabinet was formed to look after the day-to-day activities of the school.
In connection with reading day, international book fair was organised on 3rd and 4th July in the school auditorium to encourage reading among children.
29th July 2025, International Tiger Day, Arjun A C, wildlife biologist from Malabar awareness and rescue centre for wild life enlightened the students of 6th std about the importance of tigers and why they should be protected.
To monitor and reduce sugar consumption among children, Lions Club Kannur organised an awareness program on the harmful effects of sugar consumption and installed the Sugar Board in school.
On 26th September 2025, First Aid Trainer, Mr Hari, a retired BSF jawan and currently chairman of Kannur Red Cross took a session on first aid. Live demonstration was also conducted to explain CPR [Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation] to the students of 8th std.
We encourage students’ participation in Independence Day, Onam, Sree Narayana Guru Jayanti celebrations. This develops collaboration, empathy and a feeling of pride for our motherland and its value system.
This year students of the X std will be attempting Artificial Intelligence as the sixth subject in CBSE Board Examination in February 2026. Along with 5 compulsory subjects English, II language, Mathematics, Science and Social science, Artificial Intelligence is the sixth subject. CBSE is introducing two board exams for students of 10th std this academic session, the first is main exam which will be conducted in Feb- March and the second which is the improvement exam will be conducted in May.
Talent Search Exam, Deeshiya Hindi Exam were conducted yesterday and more than 400 students participated in each examination. This year students are also participating in the BTAG spell bee challenge and I take this opportunity to congratulate AARAV K P, NAVOMIYA SUJITH and KRISHNA SHANKAR A for winning the spell bee competition last year.
Extra-curricular activities
Our school has always given importance not only on academic activities but also to co -curricular activities.
To develop our children mentally and physically, we have added martial arts as part of our co-curricular activities and Karate classes are being conducted to aid our children to improve their concentration and alertness. This sports day the students of classes 2nd to 7th displayed their karate skills and today they will mesmerise you with it again.
“EXPLORA’ 25”- the one-day school exhibition saw active participation by students, parents and teachers of all the departments. It proved, our children given the opportunity and exposure can do wonders.
As a part of their SEWA [SOCIAL EMPOWERMENT THROUGH WORK EDUCATION AND ACTION] project students of XItook the initiative of visiting old age home, orphanage, special school and contributed in time and kind.
Students of 7th std visited Ashrayam special school and Swantanam old age home in Kannur and spent quality time with the children and the aged. They donated Rs. 9220/ in cash and bought stationery worth Rs 6986/
Promotion of Sports, Co-curricular Activities & Students achievements in interschool competitions and competitive exams –
Anushka C V of class XII C has been selected to represent Kerala Team for the BCCI Under -19 Women’s T20 Trophy 2025-26 she is managing both studies and cricket effectively. On behalf of all I wish her greater success in future.
Along with academics, games and sports are an integral part of the school curriculum.
We conducted our 45th Athletic meet at the Police Parade Ground, Kannur. Nearly 500 students from classes V to XII participated in the true spirit of sportsmanship. With Green squad lifting the championship trophy.
To encourage participation in sports we conducted a one-month summer camp for students where they practised football, chess, shuttle badminton, basketball and table tennis. The fruits of which was visible in the Sahodaya Competitions in Chess, Swimming and Table tennis.

In the Kannur Sahodaya Kalotsav 2025 held in Marygiri, Sreekandapuram our students put up a wonderful show and brought laurels to the school. The 1st and 2nd prize winners will represent Kannur district in the All-Kerala Sahodaya festival to be conducted from 12th to 15th November 2025 at Kottayam.

Excursions and picnics
Excursions and picnics enhance student life by giving them enjoyment and information. The school conducts excursions to various places giving children an opportunity to create memories, lifelong bonding, gather valuable information regarding their place of visit and most important of all relaxation from the daily routine. In the month of October students of X and XII went on an excursion to Ooty. Picnics of classes preKG to 11th std will start after the annual day in the month of November 2025.
